For interior designers

Work from home as an interior designer

You do not need a studio, a site vehicle or years behind you to take on design work. If you can plan a room and choose what goes in it, you can list here — consult by phone, video call and email, set your own rates, and take the projects that fit around your life.

Who this is for

Designers we built this for

Just out of design school

Early projects are how a portfolio starts. List small, priced jobs — a room concept, a material selection — and build from there.

Designing from home already

If you have picked tiles, lighting, wallpapers and curtains for family and friends, that is the work. This is where you charge for it.

Working around other commitments

Take only the enquiries that suit you. Nothing obliges you to travel, and nothing obliges you to take a project you do not want.

How it works

Listing without site visits

  1. 01

Tick “I work from home / online”

Your listing then says plainly that you consult by phone, video call and email rather than visiting the property — so every enquiry you get already expects that.

  2. 02

    Price the work your way

Per room, per task, per floor or whole-home. A consultation call, a room concept, or picking curtains — each can be its own listed service with its own price and delivery time.

  3. 03

    Enquiries come to you

Clients message you directly with their brief and budget. There is no commission on anything you win, whatever the fee.

No registration certificate needed

Architects in India practise under Council of Architecture registration. Interior design carries no such requirement, so there is no certificate to produce before you can list. Add qualifications if you have them — they show as verified once our team confirms them — but your work and your reviews are what clients read.

Small jobs are real jobs

A client who wants curtains chosen, or one room rethought, is a paying client. Listing a ₹2,500 selection or a ₹5,000 room alongside larger packages is how most designers here start — and how busy clients buy advice without commissioning a whole project.

Start with the room you have already designed

Photograph it, write what you did, and set a price. That is a listing — published across all five of our websites, with enquiries coming straight to you.

Work-from-home interior design in India

Interior designers across India work from home full time — planning layouts, selecting materials and finishes, preparing mood boards and drawings, and guiding clients through execution, all by phone, video call and email. Clients in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Jaipur and smaller towns increasingly hire this way, because a designer’s eye does not depend on being in the room. Listing on SearchArchitect gives that work a public profile: your projects, your rates, your reply time, and a way for clients to reach you directly.
